Chamber choir Encore

In 2016, while Karin Tuul (Kuulpak) was finishing her bachelor’s degree in choir conducting, a group of talented young people were invited together to sing as a project choir for her final exam. Because the collaboration between the singers and the choir’s soon-to-be conductor produced wonderful results, a decision was made to keep singing together. Thus, Chamber Choir Encore was created.

Throughout its 6 seasons, Encore has participated in various festivals and concerts. Each year, the choir has taken part in at least one choir competition – from the local “Estonian Chamber Choir Association Festival” to international festivals like “Tallinn 2019” and placing in the top three. Various collaborative projects have also been done with many musicians and visual artists. To name a few: concert “Sügispeegel” (Autumn Mirror) in Tallinn Music week with instrumental ensemble Dua Telluur, the light festival “Õhtu ilu” (Evening Beauty), concert “Ühe pere lugu” (The Story of a Family) with the folk-dance ensemble Kuljus.

Chamber Choir Encore consists of 32 young and talented singers ranging from ages of 18 to 32. In addition to very capable singing, the choir has created a strong bond and friendships between the singers, despite all being from different backgrounds and professions in life.

The choir’s repertoire draws heavily from Estonian music, be it from the conductor Karin Tuul

(Kuulpak)’s personal creation, world famous composers like Arvo Pärt and Veljo Tormis or “classics” like Mart Saar and Cyrillius Kreek. However, the choir’s repertoire also includes foreign composers and categories. F. Poulenc, F. Mendelssohn, A. Schnittke, S. Rachmaninoff, E. Ešenvalds, D. Tabakova, K. Matsushita are few of the names whose music has Encore sung and will continue to sing in the future.

On the 30th of April 2022, Chamber Choir Encore had the privilege of introducing its first album “Eesti tunne” (The sense of Estonia) in concert. The album contains 7 songs written by Karin Tuul (Kuulpak) based on lyrics from Estonian poets such as Paul-Erik Rummo, Artur Alliksaar, Veiko Tubin and Kalju Lepik. The album gives a good overview of the creation of our conductor and to the musical tone of the choir.

Kammerchor Encore

Als Karin Tuul (Kuulpak) 2016 ihren Bachelor in Chorleitung abschloss, wurde eine Gruppe talentierter junger Menschen eingeladen, als Projektchor für ihre Abschlussprüfung zu singen. Da die Zusammenarbeit zwischen den Sängerinnen und Sängern und der zukünftigen Dirigentin zu so wunderbaren Ergebnissen führte, entschied man, weiterhin zusammen zu singen. So entstand der Kammerchor Encore. 

Seitdem hat Encore an verschiedenen Festivals und Konzerten teilgenommen. So auch jedes Jahr an mindestens einem Chorwettbewerb - vom lokalen „Festival der estnischen Kammerchorvereinigung“ bis hin zu internationalen Festivals wie „Tallinn 2019“ und erhielt dabei Platzierungen unter den ersten drei.

Auch wurden verschiedene Kooperationsprojekte mit vielen Musikern und bildenden Künstlern durchgeführt. Um nur einige zu nennen: Konzert „Sügispeegel“ (Herbstspiegel) in der Musikwoche Tallinn mit dem Instrumentalensemble Dua Telluur, das Lichterfest „Õhtu ilu“ (Schönheit am Abend), Konzert „Ühe pere lugu“ (Die Geschichte einer Familie) mit dem Volkstanzensemble Kuljus.

Der Kammerchor Encore besteht aus 32 jungen und talentierten Sängerinnen und Sängern von 18 bis 32 Jahren. Neben dem sehr guten Gesang hat der Chor starke Bindungen und Freundschaften zwischen den Sängern geschaffen, obwohl alle aus unterschiedlichen Hintergründen und Berufen stammen.

Das Repertoire des Chores schöpft stark aus der estnischen Musik, sei es von der Dirigentin Karin Tuul (Kuulpak)s persönlichen Kreationen, weltberühmten Komponisten wie Arvo Pärt und Veljo Tormis oder „Klassiker“ wie Mart Saar und Cyrillius Kreek. Das Repertoire des Chores umfasst jedoch auch ausländische Komponisten und Genres. F. Poulenc, F. Mendelssohn, A. Schnittke, S. Rachmaninoff, E. Ešenvalds, D. Tabakova, K. Matsushita sind nur einige der Namen, deren Musik Encore gesungen hat und auch in Zukunft singen wird.

Am 30. April 2022 hatte der Kammerchor Encore das Privileg, sein erstes Album „Eesti tunne“ (The sense of Estonia) im Konzert vorzustellen. Das Album enthält sieben Songs, die von Karin Tuul (Kuulpak) geschrieben wurden und auf Texten von estnischen Dichtern wie Paul-Erik Rummo, Artur Alliksaar, Veiko Tubin und Kalju Lepik basieren. Das Album gibt einen guten Überblick über das Schaffen unserer Dirigentin und den musikalischen Ton des Chores.
